In 1495, in a Dominican convent, Leonardo da Vinci began work on The Last Supper. He was poorly paid, he had no experience with fresco painting, and had a well – deserved reputation as a starter – not a finisher. Yet Leonardo did finish The Last Supper and it has become one of the most beloved masterpieces of all time. We will strip away the myths surrounding this work and replace them with fascinating real stories revealing the politics of the time, the elements in the painting, and Leonardo as an artist and a true Renaissance man.
